Drum Husk/Wood Stove
The double drum husk/wood stove
has been developed to meet the fuel shortage situations by using waste
materials as fuel which are thrown away and discarded by rural people such
as wheat straw aggregates(of bigger knot sizes) , rice husk and cow dung
cake dust etc., can be conveniently used as fuel and stove is adequate for
complete cooking for a family of 5-7 persons.
A double drum stove
is made of two cylindrical drums with outer drum having 30 cm diameter and
35 cm height and inner dia is 20cm and 25cm height. The gap between the two
is filled with insulating material upto 25cm height. The exposed portion
above the inner drum is generally covered with metallic sheet to avoid the
loss of insulation while tilting the drum to retain the burnt fuel after the
operation. Two holes of dia 5cm are made one each in the drums on the base
at a height of 5cm from the bottom. Fuel, such as wood dust, rice husk and
drained around apipe of 5cm dia kept at the centre which is removed. Wood
saving can be filled in the inner drum and rammed around a pipe of 5 cm dia.
Kept at the center which is removed after proper filling.
